Improving End-of-Life Management of Plastic Mulch Film in Strawberry Production
Lisa W. DeVetter, Associate Professor, Washington State University
This presentation will review traditional and emerging technologies to improve end-of-life management of polyethylene plastic mulch film using the strawberry production system as a model. Topics to be covered includes recycling, plastics-to-fuels, pyrolysis, and use of biodegradables. Pros and cons of each technology will be reviewed and directions of future research will be addressed.
Lisa W. DeVetter is an Assistant Professor of Small Fruit Horticulture at Washington State University. Her research program has focused on improving production efficiencies using plastic mulch films in strawberry and raspberry productions systems. She and her collaborative team has also been investigating improved waste management systems for plastic mulch films.
